The Ultimate Survival Kit For Zombieland

It takes a lot of endurance and guts to survive in a zombie infested land. Every moment, you have to think on your feet and make lightning quick decision for the next move. Any hesitation would mean brain dinner for the desperate zombies ‘which’ (come on, they are not humans anymore) are always hankering after you for that delicious bite. Besides being on your toes and sense of intelligence (at least the ones with brain), it is definitely useful to have some items which essential even for the fittest survival. This is what we think is necessary for the ultimate survival kit:

First Aid Kit

The first aid kit is one of the most important items to be on the list because in an event of an apocalypse, there would not be functional hospitals in sight anymore. Most probably they would be the first to be overrun by zombies. Thus, it is definitely essential to have one on-hand to fix those cuts or bruises that might happen along the way. If it is one of those nasty bites from the undead, say your last goodbyes. It is just a first aid kit, not a magic pill box.

Matches

Fire is especially useful if you encounter cold season. Unless you can find a shelter with working heaters, then this could be your next best option. One suggestion though: Keep something that is easy to light e.g. lighters, electronic flame starters, etc. Quit using wooden matches because they might not work in wet conditions or in emergencies where you need to light a Molotov for a blast. Be discreet while using fire to avoid getting too much attention. Zombies love bright light.

Multitool

Keep free from situations where you need to open a food can, cut ropes/wires, or fix up some electronics but could not find tools to do it. That is why a multitool is a useful item to be kept in the pocket at all times. The reason why it is recommended to have an all-in-one is obvious. Carry light and not fumble for the right tool in crucial circumstances. It is also good to have a backup in case one of them breaks because it happens many a time.

Flashlight

For your usual search of items around the area or in a store for supplies. Use something that can light up a reasonably huge area for your poor eyes. It is already tiring enough to be on the run, a little more light for the eyes is not going to attract the horde (unless you are an idiot trying to play some light sabre). If you can get your hands on those regenerative ones, then you can worry less about running out of batteries.

Food supplies

Humans need to eat at least a thousand or two calories every day and especially so (if not more) if running is required most of the time. Food will be scarce especially fresh ones unless you are intending to go hunting for live animals. Same goes for your greens unless you want to grow some on your own. Supermarkets will become a luxury for those who want to stock up necessities because everyone single soul would be heading there often. And while you are there, it is good to stock up dry foods especially biscuits, chocolates or anything that has long shelf life.

Hygiene Supplies

For a world without many humans around, does not mean that one should walk around smelling like dead bodies (unless you are really one).We should keep ourselves in good condition and practice good hygiene when medical aid is scarce. The basic necessity should include toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, hand sanitizer, etc. Of course, water is necessary too if you are looking for a quick wash. Otherwise, the portable sanitizers should do the trick.

Baseball bat

The baseball bat is a handy weapon when it comes to fighting some zombies. It fits nicely in your hand no matter how you want to hold it or swing it to your preference. The best thing is that it is reloadable unlike a gun which is limited to the number of rounds. It also helps to train your muscles up to a whole new level that you have never been before. A word of advice: Stock up a number of them and include the iron ones.

Hammock

When it is getting dark and you are looking for a place to sleep in the forest, the safest place is to be out of sight. You can either dig deep into the ground (too hard work for a few hours) or go high up into the air. If you pick the latter, you are already a survivalist. And to top it up, use a hammock for that perfect sleep.

Backpack

Whenever you are on the move, your backpack is your next best friend. While having a huge volume is not necessary always the smart move, a quality bag is more important as a consideration factor. A no-frills, simple and yet durable backpack will do the work. Sometimes, a little extra designs i.e. pockets for easy access, hoops for hanging small items e.g. multitool are good to have. Backpacks with too flashy colours attract unnecessary attention and strings or straps may get entangled in tight situations.

Music player

It can get boring while on the road with nothing much in sight for a prolonged period of time. A little music can help to ease the boredom. Sometimes when there is an inevitable encounter of fighting the horde, a tune of rock-and-roll helps to spruce up hulk juice. A simple portable music player with some earpieces that can last for a good old smack down should be sufficient.

So, there you have it: The ultimate survival kit to last in the land of the zombies. There will definitely be more variation of items in the survival list because you can never predict what will happen next. The rule of thumb is to have a pack that serves your needs as you go along the way and most importantly, travel light.

Do you have a list of survival items that you cannot live without?
